💡The Psychiatric Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients with mental health disorders, promoting their well-being and recovery in accordance with the Philippine Nursing Act and Mental Health Act. The nurse collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
✅Responsibilities:
- Assess patients’ mental health status, gather medical history, and develop individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor their effectiveness, and document any adverse reactions, in compliance with the Philippine Pharmacy Act.
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions, providing psycho-education and therapeutic interventions to support patients’ recovery.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, mental status, and behavior, documenting findings and communicating any changes to the healthcare team.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage patients’ challenging behaviors, ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, treatment options, and coping strategies, promoting their active participation in the recovery process.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop discharge plans and coordinate aftercare services, ensuring continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, adhering to the legal and ethical standards of nursing practice in the Philippines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and ongoing professional development to enhance the quality of psychiatric nursing care.
✅Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a recognized institution in the Philippines.
- Valid Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
- Completion of a post-graduate course or training in psychiatric nursing is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the Philippine Mental Health Act, Nursing Act, and other relevant laws and regulations governing psychiatric nursing practice.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records and other relevant healthcare technologies.
